BE THE CHANGE DAY

​

Be the Change is an annual national day of service coordinated by South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT) to inspire and foster civic engagement and stronger communities through volunteerism and community service. In sponsorship with the Kappa Chapter of Sigma Beta Rho and the University of Rochester Delta Phi Omega Sorority, Inc., ADITI spends a day positively impacting the youth of the Rochester community. 

GARBA​

​

ADITI, in sponsorship with Rochester Raas, hosts Garba, a dance form that originated in the state of Gujrat in India. Traditionally, it is performed during the nine-day Hindu festival, Navaratri. ADITI and Rochester Raas welcome the Rochester community to attend. 

SOUTH ASIAN EXPO​

​

ADITI's annual fall show, South Asian Expo features interactive booths, performances, and a fashion show that showcase the rich hertiage of all the countries ADITI represents. South Asian Expo is held in Hirst Lounge, Wilson Commons, and is open to attend for the entire UofR community. Tradition has it that each year the freshman J-Board and General Members choreograph and perform a dance that features their talent!

FORMAL​

ADITI hosts its yearly dinner and dance party in the May Room, Wilson Commons. ADITI invites all General Members and the UofR community to enjoy an evening filled with friends, delicious Indian food, and a Desi-style dance party to end the night. 

PRE-MELA WEEK​

​

To promote Mela, the Junior Executive Board plans a week filled with various interactive activities/booths that raise culturual awareness of the Indian Subcontinent. The booths are featured in Hirst Lounge and open to the entire UofR campus. Pre-Mela Week generally concludes with a viewing of a Bollywood Movie! 

MELA​

​

Held in Upper Strong Auditorium, Mela is ADITI's biggest event held every spring. ADITI invites not only the General Members and Junior Executive Board, but also the Greater Rochester Area South Asian community to showcase their talents. Mela is followed by a Semi-Formal Dinner in Douglass Dining Center.
